You're right, Anthony. I do miss the point entirely. I don't get JCVD or any of his ilk. And I'm proud of it. Eric

The play written by Ray Mooney was based on FACT. H Division was a cruel and violent place - you even had to salute the cat or cop a biff! Sadly there ISN'T much 'artistic license' in the movie, if anything the conditions and brutal bashings were worse than in the film. Prisoners were STILL breaking rocks in H's yards in 1976! Not much license there...

I probably should have known about Bobby Sands before watching this, but I didn't - which I think only added to my enjoyment of this excellent, but disturbing movie. Great review Eric.

This was the film that made it very clear to me why Barbara Stanwyck would become in my opinion the greatest actress of her day. She was very believable in this role as a tough girl, not to mention it made her look very sexy. That accent of hers isn't a put on, that's the real Brooklyn gal in her laying it down. For those who knew her as the cowgirl all those years it might come as a shock, but Barbara kicked ass on pavement long before she jumped on her horse.

While 'Big House Bunny' does little to provide insight into prison life, I suspect it is aiming for a portrayal of the age-old struggle for power and dominance, with the prison a metaphor for life. It speaks to the use of violence as means of achieving social control. But, as depicted by Bugs Bunny, violence doesn’t necessarily lead to control. Bugs shows that a strong mind can free us, not only from our physical prison, but also our psychological one.

I like this movie because it has lisaraye and da drat in it. It is also a sad movie because of what the warden done to them and on top of all that the inmates all die at the end and they were innocent.
